NATO Bombs Strike Tripoli, Rebel Gains in Western Libya
NATO bombings shook the Libyan capital Tripoli Tuesday, as rebels claimed advances in the country's west.
The alliance says the airstrikes in Tripoli targeted a military command and control facility under the control of pro-government forces. Locals say one of the bombs hit a building used by the military intelligence agency.
NATO officials again denied they are targeting Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, but one strike sent up smoke from what appeared to be a Gadhafi compound.
The Libyan government took journalists to view a damaged government building used by the parliament and a hospital where broken glass was seen. Officials said at least three children were injured.
In the rebel-held western city of Misrata, rebels said they have pushed forces loyal to Mr. Gadhafi to the town of Dafniya, on the western outskirts. They said they have also made gains south of the city.
In the country's east, rebels say heavy fighting has continued between the towns of Ajdabiya and Brega.
